HutchFan Posted October 17, 2018 Report Posted October 17, 2018 Roland Hanna Trio - Time for the Dancers (Progressive) with George Mraz (b) and Richard Pratt (d) There are other pianists who I enjoy as much as Roland Hanna -- but there are none who I enjoy more. Quote
jeffcrom Posted October 18, 2018 Report Posted October 18, 2018 Duke Heitger's Big Four - Prince of Wails (Stomp Off). I had forgotten that I had this CD, on which Heitger is joined by Evan Christopher, John Gill and Tom Saunders. I'm glad I found it while looking for something else - it's excellent latter-day traditional jazz. And the CD Japan order arrived today: Watazumi Doso - Watazumido (CBS/Sony). A recent reissue of a 1978 album by the Japanese master of the bamboo flute. Masahiko Togashi/Steve Lacy/Yuji Takahashi (Studio Songs). A new issue from Lacy's 2000 Japanese tour - recorded at the Egg Farm the day after 10 of Dukes and Apices. Quote
HutchFan Posted October 18, 2018 Report Posted October 18, 2018 (edited) More Sir Roland: Roland Hanna & George Mraz - Sir Elf Plus One (Choice) Desert-island music. Incidentally, this CD has MUCH improved sound quality compared to the original LP issue, which was very rough. Plus two bonus tracks. Edited October 18, 2018 by HutchFan Quote

jeffcrom Posted October 18, 2018 Report Posted October 18, 2018 Joe Henderson - State of the Tenor Volume 1 (BN). I hadn't spun this in quite a while. I'm really enjoying it. Quote

It's the only John Ogden in my collection, so I'm not really familiar at all with his music. I do enjoy listening to what he and Jascha Horenstein did with the Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 5. Quote
