I've spent the last few hours listening to Earl Hines.

All three of these tributes are excellent.  Today, I particularly enjoyed the Satchmo tracks. 

 

Stephane Grappelli Meets Earl Hines (Black Lion)
Wonderfully relaxed duets, full of feeling. Check out their version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."  Phew! Good!

This is the 2'nd album I purchased recently of these two gentlemen collaborating. The other being "Satch and Josh". Really nice stuff.

Second listen. Intriguing album. Not quite sure what i think really. All of it is impressive, some tracks take flight more than others. Some tracks i tire of quickly, others finish too soon. Despite the apparent ambivalence, time for another spin...
