jazzbo Posted July 18, 2018 Report Posted July 18, 2018 I agree that one shouldn't look back when stepping out. Quote

If you dislike the sound of a Fender Rhodes, you should stay away from Don't Look Back. Myself, I LOVE that sound. In fact, I think Don't Look Back is an all-around fan-stinkin'-tastic record. Speaking of... I just discovered that the U.K.-based company Pure Pleasure has just reissued Don't Look Back -- in limited edition vinyl-only format. After some poking around on the web, I found several US retailers that stock it for about $35. I very rarely buy new vinyl -- especially new vinyl at that price point. But I think I'm going to make an exception in this case. This music is SO good that I want to upgrade my blogosphere-sourced download with the "real thing." 25 minutes ago, jazzbo said: I agree that one shouldn't look back when stepping out. Oh man. I hope I'm not too late here but I was all for doing the same until I read a number of comments about the quality of the PP reissue. I can't think where now but will see if I can find the references Edited July 18, 2018 by mjazzg Quote

I'd expect TOP NOTCH quality & sound at that price point. I'll definitely pass if that's not the case. Quote

I know I'm not imagining it as I was really excited by the prospect and I'd been impressed by one PP reissue so was surprised Quote

I listened for a little bit on YouTube last night before I went to bed so I need to listen more. I’m not that familiar with a Fender so I don’t have any feelings one way or the other. Quote

mjazzg Posted July 18, 2018 Report Posted July 18, 2018 Ok folks, I've tried to find the online discussion about the Vick Pure Pleasure and completely failed, sorry. So I may have cast unfounded aspersions but I remember it was a discussion about the relative merits of PP reissues and the Vick wasn't getting the same positive responses that others were. It wasn't being trashed just "not as good as some of the others". I have to say that every review I've just now visited in an attempt to find these comments has been roundly positive. It may also be that this extended UK summer is getting to me Quote

Justin V Posted July 18, 2018 Report Posted July 18, 2018 Marker - Roadwork 2: Atlanta: I am feeling this. The crazy thing about this one is that it probably sold out before its official release date of July 16th, as there were only 40 copies left between sets when Marker played Cleveland on the 9th. I'm glad I snagged a physical copy, but $20 for the download is still a steal for anyone interested in some prime Vandermark. Quote

There's an earlier 1 CD Marker that's still available. Any good?? Quote

I haven't heard it, but it is limited to 500 copies. I don't think you could go wrong by picking it up, though. Quote
