HutchFan Posted July 3, 2018 Report Posted July 3, 2018 Enrico Pieranunzi Trio - Seaward (Soul Note) with Hein van de Geyn & André Ceccarelli To my knowledge, Pieranunzi's trio with van de Geyn and Ceccarelli has only made two records. Along with Seaward, this same group is heard on Live in Paris (Challenge). Both of these records are STELLAR. Quote

Peter Friedman Posted July 3, 2018 Report Posted July 3, 2018 This CD shares a feature found on almost every recording by Lateef. Parts of it are, in my view, marvelous. Soulful swinging and highly creative. Other parts are somewhat dull and uninteresting. At least part of the reason is that Yusef decided to play such a wide variety of instruments, some of which were not particularly suited to jazz. It was his tenor saxophone that could often be thrilling and gives me the most enjoyment.  Quote
