Billie: Lady Sings the Blues

Listening to this, I was thinking of Billie's became more profound and more subtle as the years passed - and also how, when she was younger, she was accompanied by the cream of jazz musicians. Here, she's accompanied (on the first half of the CD) by Charlie Shavers and Tony Scott. Someone should have been ashamed about this situation. I hope that they weren't Billie's choices.

After reading Cathy Sloane's Keystone Korner: Portrait of a Jazz Club, I was even more disappointed that I never had an opportunity to hear music there.

I rememember when that DMM of ‘Straight, No Filter’ came out. Talk about unearthing a lost gem !  Same with ‘The Rajah’.
