Larry Kart Posted January 27, 2018 Report Posted January 27, 2018 Maybe the best Hank Jones I know in a trio setting, The presence of Richard Davis and Elvin (on brushes throughout and taking a number of solos) certainly helps, but I get the feeling that Hank is in charge. His recasting of "Satin Doll" is worth the price of admission. Quote
JSngry Posted January 28, 2018 Author Report Posted January 28, 2018 Wow, somebody got the damn reverb drench out of there. Don't know who or how, but kudos! Still a "second-tier" Dexter date, but at least now a better-sounding one. Quote
Larry Kart Posted January 28, 2018 Report Posted January 28, 2018 Altschul, Joe Fonda, Jon Irabagon. Concert in Krakow in 2016, vividly recorded. First time Irabagon has sounded convincing to me, and I've heard him several times in person and on record. Altschul is in excellent form. Quote
