The Teddy Wilson sextet heard here had the superb lineup of Emmett Berry, Benny Morton, Edmond Hall, Sid Catlett and probably Johnny Williams on bass.  According to the liner notes, Buck Clayton had been drafted just shortly before this session by the Basie band was recorded in late Nov. - early Dec. 1943 and he was replaced by Joe Newman.  Also, Don Byas had recently been fired by Count Basie after he pulled a gun on some one at the Hotel Lincoln where the band was playing, thus making room for the return of Lester Young, who is heard here.  Audio is kind of scratchy as these shows are taken from original transcription discs, but it's a fun listen.,

solid. I like the versions of Ruby My Dear, Monk´s Dream and Off Minor and Thelonious.  There is another record for about the same period "At Cafe Blue Note", with a fantastic version of "Round Midnight" too.

Yout got this ? It must be a rarity today. The only recorded version of Bemsha Swing. All those 10 CDs are very interesting.

Yes back in the day (aka mid 80's) when Virgin Megastore @Champs Elysees in Paris was a jazz collector's heaven ....
