I've had this CD for many, many years, so I guess it was an EU bootleg from a time before the EU even existed.  You can hear the pops and crackles of the vinyl it was copied from.  What was the "award winning film" from Cannes '88 of which this CD speaks?  The info shown on the CD back card is all the info this release provides and even it is wrong since "Summertime" is principally a showcase for Ray Nance on violin, not Kenny Dorjham.

A solo piano recording from 1972, originally released on Mr. Shearing's Sheba Records label.  I enjoy his solo outings and this one is okay, but the three he recorded for Concord are my favorites, i suppose.  Right now he is playing a nice interpolation of "Snowfall" into "Change Partners".

All I know is that it was a bootleg of a Chess double LP:

The new liner notes refer to the "Bird" movie with Forest Whitaker:

Thanks.  That at least provides some idea of the personnel on each track (even if it may be less than 100% correct).l  Tying this CD into the Bird movie was quite a stretch on the part of whoever reissued this LP on CD.

Two CBS radio broadcasts from May of 1966 from The Blue Room of the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas.  This edition of the Shearing Quintet included Joe Pass on guitar and Hagood Hardy on vibes.
