Just incredible !!!!

Woody Shaw was a giant !!!

Download (11).jpg

Saw Woody a few times. The first was with Dexter's band in '77 at the Keystone Korner. Always INTENSE!

Another cold, still morning. My wife slept better last night than the night before, it was my turn to lose some sleep due to the dachshund being rather needy. But I am eager to get some listening in.

Starting off with Ben Allison, Steve Cardenas, Ted Nash “Tell the Birds I said Hello–the Music of Herbie Nichols” Sonic Camera cd

A very nicely recorded series of interpretations of Herbie’s music in a guitar/bass/sax trio of immense talent.

Paula Castle “Lost Love” Bethlehem/Solid Records Japan cd

I haven't played this cd in a long time. Paula sounds somewhat like Sarah Vaughan here, on her only record. Sam Most shines!

Bass – Chet Amsterdam
Drums – Herbie Wasserman
Flute – Sam Most
Piano – Ronnie Selbey
Producer – Creed Taylor
Vocals – Paula Castle

That's a good album by a good band

Yes and yes!

A less involved group of players might suffer groove fatigue by the time it's over, but these folks are locked in all the way!

Great album. Only wish it was longer.

Bob Brookmeyer Quartet with John Williams, Bill Anthony or Red Mitchell, Frank Isola  recorded in 1954

Piano player John Williams reminds me at times of Eddie Costa.

😁 👍 Is that the 10" vinyl on PJ 16?

Have this reissue by Fresh Sound
