Man, I was so thrilled to pick up that compilation when it came out in 1995. I’ve hung on to it even after getting the Lester Young Mosaic that makes it redundant (iirc). 

Wise decision as it includes the tracks from the Helen Humes that the Mosaic left off.

Another fascinating Bill Evans release. Seems a good fit for this cold rainy (very soggy) morning.

“The Bill Evans Album” Sony Blu-Spec CD2

 

 

This originally released 1971 album featured four new Evans compositions, and was the first album to feature only his compositions.

With Eddie Gomez and Marty Morell.

That is a very unusual recording. I would have never thought to re-imagine college fight songs in a Jazz setting. On top of that, after listening to a few of them on YouTube, I'm not sure I like them much. :) :)
