Rabshakeh
What an interesting record. As is often the case with split leader dates, this had completely passed me by. The Sonny Rollins tracks are obviously pretty eye opening, similar to what he would do on the record with Hawkins.

I had a nightmare dis year and when I woke up I had that melody in my head, it became one of my new compositions. When I´ll have enough new stuff togehter, we might record our next album.... 2 hours ago, dougcrates said: I must hear that band. Is there only Mozaic collections for sale, or any individual CD too ? To have Liebman and Foster, some of my very very earliest favourits (caught them both with Miles) so it´s natural they became my heroes.... jazzbo
Starting off the cool morning listening to this one again. Pass was such a focused and expressive player. And I feel the connection to Bird in this recording. Joe Pass “I Remember Charlie Parker” Pablo cd
Rabshakeh
Shorty Rogers And Bill Perkins – Live At The Royal Palms Inn - Volume 5 A nice record that I will revisit. A lot of effort has gone into the arrangements and the two leads play well. Shame about the bass.
jazzbo
Donald Byrd “Places and Spaces” Blue Note Japan 85th Anniversary UHQCD Ordered two copies of this one by mistake. Probably my least favorite recording reissued in the series, but I must admit it sounds damned good in this edition. The Mizell Brothers production here seems fresher and more energetic than some other collaborations. Of its time, not timeless, but an interiguing presentation. Such a vast, varies and approachable back catalogue, which is almost always fun.
