An early trio recording by the man who would become Peter Nero shortly thereafter.

“Bernie Nerow Trio” Mode/Muzak Records Japan lp facsimile cd.

Like all these Muzak reissues the remastered sound is wonderful.

Sorry to ask an idiotic question but is "Muzak" the same company as the piped music company of historic fame?

No, it's a label that issues Japanese releases of select jazz titles, as far as I can tell a legitimate one--but I can't say that with certainty. I don't know what equipment they use, but I would like to see more reissues and issues sounding this good. They also are well-packaged.

Which version of the quartet is this and when was it?

Good Question. It definitely has Bob Brookmeyer. Lord was not helpful, though I did not  spend a huge amount of time going through it.

The music and audio quality were both very good in my opinion.

A strong trio date by a pianist I appreciate more and more over the years.

I'm really pleased I bought that. The extra material is very worthwhile

Agreed.

I originally bought this years ago because Jimmy Rowles was in the piano chair. A good reason! But I’ve learned to really like the album, and it led me to buy the other two Bagley leader dates.
