jazzbo Posted October 31 Report Posted October 31 Another really warm fall morning. . . should be beautiful before the rain scheduled to dampen the Halloween outings of neighborhood kiddos. Revisiting this Sun Ra recording from 1970. Although the music is not that special for Ra recordings, and features the sort of performance art philosophy that honestly turns me off and away from a lot of jazz that is at the very fringes of the tradition, the recording is truly fascinating, showing the depth and vitality of the sound in the theater–a good system really transports you into an audience seat. Sun Ra And His Intergalactic Research Arkestra “Paradiso Amsterdam 1970” Bobby Hutcherson “Happenings” Blue Note 85th Anniversary UHQCD A very favorite recording in excellent new mastering. Quote
