Oh, what a beautiful morning. Looking forward to a brunch we will have with my sister-in-law Bridget and her husband Dan. My favorite in-laws. Don’t tell the others.

Starting off wtih a great listen.

Billy Valentine “And the Universal Truth” Flying Dutchman cd

Still sort of mystery (to me) why this release didn't receive more acclaim in 2023 ....  Billy Valentine strolls soulfuly through sort of "Alternate American Songbook" (Curtis Mayfield, Gil Scott-Heron, Stevie Wonder and Prince to name a few) ....

I thought that too. I am not a huge fan but it seemed very on point at the time.

Mysterious. . . no promotion of this would be the easy answer. It's a good album indeed.

I mean searching  these mentioned by Gheorghe.

The best Tina Brook I heard was his solos on a live Kenny Burrell CD, and on one of those Jimmy Smith jams, I never knew which is which....

Nubya Garcia “Source”

I am finally listening to Nubya Garcia, the cd that so many were thrilled by.

It’s good. Maybe it will rub off on me and charm me more. But it’s good.

Flora Purim “Everyday, Everynight” Warner Bros. LP

This LP sounds so much better than any cd version I’ve heard. . . which is rarer in my experience than some might suspect.

I’ve loved this record since it was released. . . Raulzinho!
