Stumbled across this music around the time it was first released, when I was just beginning to dig into jazz. It's the first music that I ever heard from either Murray or Weston, IIRC. mikeweil
I just ordered a copy of this CD, another Verve compilation of MGM recordings - AFAIK only two tracks overlap. A Mosaic box of his MGM sessions would have been a good deed.

paul secor
Clifford Jordan: Bearcat Dexter took the melody of "Junco Partner" and called it "Soul Sister". Clifford did the same thing here and called it "You Better Leave It Alone". James Wayne, or Champion Jack Dupree ("Junker's Blues") should have sued their asses, though Bob Shad took credit for writing the song on Wayne's version, so Wayne wouldn't have gotten anything from a lawsuit. As Hunter S. Thompson wrote, “The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.”
