ICP Tentet - Tetterettet (ICP/Corbett vs. Dempsey)

I have that Kikuchi release, it's a good one.

I own and enjoy the Incipient ICP on C vs D, have periodically considered Tenterettet but never pulled the trigger.

I like how they mix musical elements together so indiscriminately -- the whole kitchen sink -- but it somehow coheres.  Like a surreal three-ring circus.

I don't know Incipient ICP.  Should I check it out?

Yes.  Hard to go wrong with Kikuchi, imo -- especially in early-70s.

Started listening to the entire Roots and Folklore series...

Carter's magnum opus.

Which entry in the series is your favorite, Jim?  On most days, I think I'd choose Fields.   But they're all terrific.

I ICP is earlier, more experimental, smaller ensembles but has many of the same elements. And an irony / sense of humor that is oddly lacking in much of the musical sphere. Definitely worth checking out, but 2-CD and bigger investment so look for samples if available.

How I wish their terrific Thelonious Monk Herbie Nichols interpretations would be reissued properly....

soulpope - You're referring to the tributes on Soul Note -- Regeneration and Change of Season ???

Or are you talking about something else?

Gotcha.  Thanks.

soulpope is spot on with these. :tup Idea occurred to me independently while driving to work and I'd intended to post them. I located a Monk/Nichols via discogs.
