I'd never heard Mr. Cohen, but I noticed that his trio is coming to our provincial jazz festival this summer. Before purchasing tickets, I thought I'd check out some of his recordings on itunes. I think I'll attend his concert. Probably one of the "jazziest" concerts on offer.

Count Basie and Benny Carter Legendary Radio Broadcasts

The Basie sets are from '37, '38 and '40. Carter is from '39, '42-'43 and '46.

The Basie is excellent. Per the notes, this is from the oldest preserved broadcast from Chatterbox, PA.

This was an RSD release on LP and cd but is coming out next month on both formats in a more permanent edition.

Quite nice performances and sound is decent.
