Gheorghe Posted April 28 Report Posted April 28 Andi Steirer "Trance of Noiz" : This is a first class album of Austria´s greatest percussionist Andi Steirer. I am very proud that I got him for my own album "Waltz for Serena". Though he is very very much in demand, I´ll have him also in future on some of our gigs, most possible the larger ones. He is so fantastic and this album is so great. It has also some of Andi´s own compositions like "Hongkong Tavern" "Do Da Doo" as well as stuff with great guitarist Rens Newland , co-compositions between them both, like the title tune "Trance of Noiz". The album also features the wonderful saxophinist Thomas Kugi on soprano and tenor. Quote
jazzbo Posted April 28 Report Posted April 28 Woke up to warmth! Lucinda and I had a wonderful warm evening with my brothers and most of their family last night, feeling really good today. Starting off with Grateful Dead, Veneta OR 1972 “Sunshine Daydream” box set, cd 3 560×561 58.6 KB Followed by Chet Baker & Jack Sheldon “In Perfect Harmony: The Lost Album” Jazz Detective cd This is a short but sweet fun album. Joe Moondragon’s electric bass is a highlight. Quote

jazzbo Posted April 28 Report Posted April 28 I’ve been wanting to revisit this newest from Joel Ross, one of my favorites of the new cats, but it got lost in a few stacks of new arrivals. Found it! Great disc. Joel Ross “nublues” Blue Note cd Quote

jazzbo Posted April 28 Report Posted April 28 Theo Hill “Reality Check” Posi-Tone cd Theo Hill - piano; Rhodes; synthesizer Joel Ross - vibraphone Rashaan Carter - bass; electric bass Mark Whitfield Jr. - drums This one has grown on me. I like it more now than I did when I bought it a few years ago. Joel Ross was the attraction, and he contributes strongly. Quote
