HutchFan Posted October 3, 2017 Report Posted October 3, 2017 Jim Hall, Joe Lovano, George Mraz, Lewis Nash - Grand Slam: Live at the Regattabar (Telarc) Superb. At times, this music reminds me a bit of Jimmy Giuffre's trio with Hall -- especially when Lovano picks up his clarinet. But I think Nash's presence makes this music swing even harder. Quote
soulpope Posted October 3, 2017 Report Posted October 3, 2017 Superb transfer by the good guys from Sundazed .... Quote

HutchFan Posted October 3, 2017 Report Posted October 3, 2017 (edited) Bill O'Connell - Searching (Inner City, 1978) I recently tracked down this out-of-print LP, O'Connell's first as a leader. Unlike much of his music, this is not Latin Jazz. (O'Connell was in Mongo Santamaria's band when this LP was made.) Instead, this is lyrical, straight-ahead jazz in a piano trio format. It's lovely and subtle music; the more I listen, the more I enjoy it. Edited October 3, 2017 by HutchFan Quote
