JSngry
The liner notes dither a bit about who the second alto is on the first "Hollywood Freeway". Based on tone and attack on a few bottom notes, I respectfully suggest that it might be Dolphy.

T.D.
New arrivals: Scott (Hutch Fan): Based on one at-home listen, a very strong recording by this lineup of the Yamashita Trio. Definitely worth a listen...as with some other things (e.g. '70s live Rahsaan or '80s live Ra) one might ask "Do I need more of this stuff?", but I'm happy to have it. Liner notes all Japanese so I don't know details, but despite the cover image it was recorded in a studio. This is very good and definitely recommended unless you're allergic to electric piano. Gheorghe
17 hours ago, Peter Friedman said: It looks similar to a Blue Note record from that formation, which I like very much. But I was quite astonished it was recorded for BN, since it seemed untypical to me to have a BN record recorded in Germany. Is this another album ? 15 hours ago, soulpope said: Superb concert .... a shame this was not released officially .... The personnel reads of something extraordinary. I don´t know how many times I have played Fire Waltz, fantastic composition.

Performances from the same group @ Village Vanguard in September 1986 saw release on two Soul Note platters .... again outstanding music, but "Fire Waltz" was not included .... btw I would rate the Lugano concert at least as good ....
