Rabshakeh Posted March 29 Report Posted March 29 Jorge Dalto – Chevere First listen to what I assumed would be a Bandcamp friendly 2022 release. Turns out it is from the late 1970s and is the most Gilles Peterson release imaginable. Good fun. 1 hour ago, Peter Friedman said: How do you find this? Quote

The two horn players fit well together and were supported by a fine rhythm section of Renee Rosnes, Martin Wind and Mat Wilson. Now playing: Quote
Rabshakeh Posted March 29 Report Posted March 29 Dizzy Gillespie, Clark Terry, and Freddie Hubbard, plus Oscar Peterson - The Alternate Blues I'm not sure that I don't prefer this outtakes record to the actual Trumpet Summit album. Far less squealing competitiveness. Quote

jazzbo Posted March 30 Report Posted March 30 Chick Corea “Return to Forever” ECM LP One of my oldest LPs, still sounding great. I bought this shortly after being turned on to Miles Davis’ electric catalog, back in '73, before going off to the University of Chicago. Just a beautiful album. Quote

I did see that. I didn't know it was the first and I certainly did not know it was going to be $40 a do, but the announcement was indeed what led to me listening to this one. Pablo reissues are long overdue. There are only so many C league Strata East records that need reissuing. Quote
