jazzbo Posted March 11, 2024 Report Posted March 11, 2024 (edited) Miles Davis and John Coltrane "The Final Tour--The Bootleg Series Vol. 6" disc 2 Sony Blu-Spec CD2 4 cd set. Not perfect recordings (the following two discs are better) but of the content in all four discs I have never heard better mastering. And the music. . . so interesting. The Quintet being controversial and knowing it. Edited March 11, 2024 by jazzbo Quote

HutchFan Posted March 12, 2024 Report Posted March 12, 2024 (edited) Erroll Garner - The Complete Concert by the Sea (Legacy, 3 CDs) Disc 3 - Original album edit Garner's music is so irrepressible and irresistible. It's very nice to have the uncut concert on discs 1 & 2, but the original album is so engrained in my ear from years of listening that I can't help preferring it. . . . This album's AQ has never been ideal, and it still isn't. That said, the sound of this Legacy set is much improved compared to the "Columbia Jazz Masterpieces" version that I've had since my college days. 16 hours ago, T.D. said: (with Billy Harper et al.)
