Since hearing a group led by Vijay Iyer playing Andrew Hill's music this past weekend, I have been in the mood to listen to Hill's music in my daily listening. Monday I started with the Black Fire sessions, then decided that I wanted to focus on the post Blue Note seventies recordings.

I have only heard it on itunes, but it's excellent, perhaps the best of all.

 

 

 

I forgot about "Groove Shop" which I also have in my collection (but I don't have Absolutely!)

For what it's worth, this was the one Tommy Smith album that made me sit up at the time

Yes it's a fabulous album, I was lucky enough to see them play it live
