Back in 1991-ish I saw him a number of times in Alberta in the local jazz clubs and had chance to say hi. The story I heard was that he was planning to move there to take up a music academy job but there were problems with immigration. A friendly guy as I recall and an excellent drummer of course. I did have tickets for his Fo'Tet tour in 1992 but that one fell through.

Yes, very enthusiastic attitude to the music, which will be missed.

Yes, Peterson was a fantastic drummer & musician.   I'm sorry that never had an opportunity to see him perform live. 

It's a cryin' shame he died so young.  Only 58.
