bill-evans-tales-live-in-copenhagen-1964Northwest+1959_Dave+Brubeck_Album+Packag

Two historic new releases arrived in yesterday's mail and both are enjoyable with great sound.

The Bill Evans CD features his trio with Chuck Israels and Larry Bunker, plus a bonus track from the sessions issued earlier this year that didn't fit on the 2 CD set due to time contstraints.

The Brubeck CD features early remote recordings made by Wally Heider and the audio is outstanding.

The Dave Liebman Group - Conversation (Sunnyside, 2003)
with Vic Juris (g), Tony Marino (b), and Marko Marcinko (d, perc)

Outstanding.  This was a terrific band, one of Lieb's finest, imo.  RIP Vic Juris.

Speaking of Liebman . . .

Discs 7&8 from the Mosaic set. 150 minutes of rather incredible and powerful music.

Listening to this one again after clearing snow from the deck and steps–themes were ear-worming me so I’m spinning it again.

Nice soundtrack for watching the snow melting off the autumn leaves through the second floor window behind my stereo system.

Roy Eldridge Mosaic

Fine set. If I remember rightly, this could be had as one of those 'Euro Mosaics' which Zweitausendeins were selling at discount (many years ago now). Along with the Tal Farlow and the Gerry Mulligan Concert Band I think.

A young master with an older master and that Moodsville vibe. Just what I needed right now.

Don’t know, I bought it from mosaic at full price with some selects, if I remember correctly

I love it, it´s one of my favourite Joe Henderson albums. Around that time in 1979 I saw him live with a quartet that featured Mal Waldron. In late 1978 I had seen him with another quartet featuring Joanne Brackeen on piano.

He always has remained one of my favourite tenor saxophonists, and he has two fantastic quartets here.
