Something keeps drawing me back to Immanuel Wilkins and his sound and writing. His sound reminds me of both Paul Desmond and James Spaulding and his writing is within the tradition and also fresh.

1955.  It's kind of hard bop just emerging from bebop.  Wallington was kind of a bop figure who retired from the music fairly early.
