jazzbo Posted October 5, 2023 Report Posted October 5, 2023 (edited) I was interrupted shortly into this one, so I’m repeating it. Dexter Gordon “Complete Trio and Quartet Studio Recordings 1974 1975 1976"” Steeplechase, disc 1 OMG I forgot how awesome the two takes of "Old Folks," duets by Gordon with NHOP, are on this disc. Just Dexter at his best and NHOP gives him everything he needs. Edited October 5, 2023 by jazzbo Quote

jazzbo Posted October 5, 2023 Report Posted October 5, 2023 Sasha Dobson With The Chris Byars Octet “The Darkling Thrush” Smalls Records There’s something a little offbeat about this release. I like off beat. She reminds me of Anita O’Day a bit. The arrangements are sort of . . . out of time. Elements of early 'sixties/late 'fifties, elements of now. I’ve liked Byers on other leader and sideman dates, and the recording is interesting. This has sat on the shelf a long time. 1024×683 131 KB 40 minutes ago, Rabshakeh said: Which record was that one on originally? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Apartment_(album) Quote
