ghost of miles
I remember how jazzed I was to discover there was an additional trove of Blanton-Webster era Ellington band recordings:

JSngry
NP: Because I will buy ANY record of Pres with Basie in 1944. It seems like there's not all THAT much of, but I keeping finding things like this. Some are richer than others This one is not the motherlode, but it is above average. And the immediate post-Jo band with Shadow Wilson is also a treat. Anybody who does not know 1944 Basie/Lester, stop what you're doing right now and get a copy of this by any means necessary: Discogs has at least one copy for stoopid cheap for some reason: https://www.discogs.com/release/3203384-Various-Historical-Prez-Lester-Young-1940-1944 It's times like this that my life has real meaning. So carpe diem!!!!

Pim
Mal Waldron - From Dark Into the Light One of his best latest records. Romanian tenor sax player Nicolas Simion is an excellent replacement for Jim Pepper. He has that same powerful tone. Time for a Waldron Tutu Mosaic box? Rabshakeh
The Shaolin Afronauts – Follow The Path (2014) A 2014 rehash of Fela Kuti's sound, with some funk tracks in there too, to my ears. Actually a record I enjoyed listening to with lots of baritone saxophone all over the place. I doubt I'll revisit it when the originals are all streamable though, but it's got reasonable soul to it. Rabshakeh
Bill Watrous Combo With Danny Stiles – 'Bone Straight Ahead Jonny Teupen – Harpadelic On first stream of this, I assumed it was some modern Dorothy Ashby retro thing, executed well. I was surprised to find it is actually an MPS production from 1969 made with Dave Pike's set. The Beatles cover at the start should have alerted me, because no BandCamp spiritual jazz has Beatles covers.
