(mainly checking out Percy Pursglove here after reading the "Young Trumpeters" thread)

Thanks for posting this, I wasn't aware of it. Always happy to hear more Pursglove.

Edit to add: I just purchased a copy after an initial stream

We just announced a special Members Only CD collection to raise money for the Jazz Institute.  It’s a multi-disc limited edition of only 100 sets.  Over half are gone so act quickly if interested.

The source material comes from the Howard Rumsey archive features all the music from the original Cecil Charles Spiller master tapes.  As a surprise bonus, Don Dean was there that evening and recorded quite a bit of music that didn’t part of the the Spiller tapes.
It’s as close as we can get to experiencing the excitement of a Sunday at the Lighthouse circa 1953!

Announcing Our First Deluxe Members Only Collection

The Complete Crazy Sunday at The Lighthouse
featuring Howard Rumsey's Lighthouse All-Stars and Special Guests

September 13, 1953

Close to 10 hours of music on a multi-disc collection

plus booklet including rare photos and memorabilia

September 13 was the first Sunday with the new group of All-Stars that had replaced Shorty Rogers, Jimmy Giuffre, Frank Patchen and Shelly Manne.

The “new” All-Stars led by Howard Rumsey were:

Rolf Ericson,

Bud Shank

Bob Cooper

Claude Williamson

Max Roach

But that day was special and now legendary because several guests sat in including:

Miles Davis

Chet Baker

Herb Geller

Russ Freeman

Jimmy Giuffre

Lorraine Geller

Shelly Manne

Milt Bernhart

Experience a full Sunday marathon jam session at the Lighthouse

All but a little over an hour are unissued and uncirculated and will be heard here for the first time.

Only 100 sets being produced which will all be numbered.  It’s a true limited edition designed as a fundraiser for the Jazz Institute.

$125 membership/donation

I anticipate that the 100 sets will go very quickly so you need to act now.

The sets are currently in production and should be mailed around the first week of August.

HOW TO DONATE

There are four easy options.

  1. You can use your credit card through PayPal using our PayPal account which is sound_co...@yahoo.com (there is an underscore _ between sound and collections.)

2.     You can send money through Zelle. Use phone number (562)743-8427
