“The Complete Ahmad Jamal Trio Argo Sessions 1956-1962” Mosaic Records disc III

This nicely remastered set is a great thing to have as all the Jamal Trio albums I’ve bought are noisy enough to be very distracting with this subtle music with quite moments.

Yeah, second-hand Ahmad Jamal and Ramsey Lewis albums in my experience tend to be very well-loved, depending on how you use that phrase.  They must have been party records.

That´s a damn good personnel here.
I saw Flanagan with Mraz, and on that occasion Art Taylor was the drummer. But Al Foster is one of my very favourite drummers of all my life.

Teis Semey - Midnight Mess Vol 1

a very fresh release from one of the young guitar wonders of the Dutch scene, a unique lineup with four female singers (wordless vocals + some Danish chorals), organ (Kit Downes) and the leader on acoustic guitar... there will never be a lofi indie version of Astrud Gilberto meets Ralph Towner but this here may well be the next best thing

Bengt Hallberg with Lars Gullin “All Star Sessions 1953/1954 – Featuring Lars Gullin” Dragon Records cd

Great morning listening. The Dusty Groove description:

Great recordings from Swedish pianist Bengt Hallberg – recorded at a key point in the 50s when he was really building a reputation in the overseas market! The sides here were recorded for Metronome and Pacific Jazz – and feature Hallberg’s sharp-edged piano working with a great range of Swedish reedmen – not just baritonist Lars Gulling, as mentioned in the title – but also Arne Domnerus on alto and clarinet, Carl-Henrik Norin on tenor, and Putte Wickman on clarinet – plus added brass from the trumpet of Ernie Englund and trombone of Ake Persson. Moods are modern throughout – and kind of a blend of Swedish postwar with west coast cool – an aspect that made Hallberg ripe for exposure to the US market at the time. Titles include “Pink Lady”, “Side Car”, “Whiskey Sour”, “Red Wails In The Sunset”, “Blues In Fourths”, and “Meatballs” – and some tracks are presented in multiple takes!
