I first heard the first track of Prestige 7105, "Bakai" on a Radio Luxembourg show, Jamboree Jazz Time in the spring of 1959. It sure sounded like something different then!

I saw Lightnin' in a one-man show at St George's Hall, Bradford in the autumn of 1964.

I also saw him about ten years after that in Dallas, at a club called Mother Blues, where around the same time I also saw Dizzy Gillespie and Freddie King..

Horace Parlan is on this one.  I'm listening to the Japanese CD version that came and went quickly in 2020.

The same label briefly released this album on CD as well.

Between this album and Shelly Manne's Black Hawk albums, Victor Feldman has become one of my favourite pianists.

Don't forget Cannonball at the Lighthouse!

Too bad no! I came to Göttingen in November 1960 to study at the university. My first visit was to the club "Centre" to hear Gunter Hampel. We are currently researching the jazz events in Göttingen in the fifties and sixties.

Best of luck with your research.

Someone wrote a book on jazz of that era in my city:
