Boss Brass And Woods - Album by Rob McConnell & The Boss Brass With Phil Woods | Spotify

I like this less than other Boss Brass records, partly because of Woods' presence. He's a great musician, but I wonder whether the others felt they had to play up to him.

Currently on:

Sidney Bechet And Mezz Mezzrow – Sidney Bechet And Mezz Mezzrow

Re: Charlie Barnet & Benny Goodman

What is this? A collection of singles or of 10"s? If the latter what were they? I am struggling to identify them.

Arent you not familiar with the CAPITOL 15 volume series " Jazz Classics"?

If you are interested I can scan the liner of that LP These are originals from 1948 so it might be from 78s, EP's and 10" sources. Highly interesting material- My favorite is the composition " Claude  Reigns".

Most definitely!  That opens the door to...Primary

I have it on my 'to listen' list.  A group of players that I had almost never heard of (the 4 Souls, not the sidemen here).

Now on to this one:

George Lewis – In Hi-Fi

A lot of New Orleans R&B bounce in the sound on this one, for once.

I'm not. But I am interested if it isn't too much trouble. Scant information out there...

The tracks with the two bassists are phenomenal imo.

Alto Saxophone – Jaleel Shaw
Bass – Esperanza Spalding, Ugonna Okegwo
Drums – Johnathan Blake
Tenor Saxophone – Wayne Escoffery
Trumpet, Flugelhorn – Tom Harrell
Vocals – Esperanza Spalding
