Dave McKenna Quartet - Featuring Zoot Sims (Chiaroscuro, 1974)
with Major Holley (b) and Ray Mosca (d)

Zoot & McKenna together are like baseball and apple pie.  Sometimes, what's tried-and-true -- and maybe even a little old-fashioned -- hits the spot.

Great album from the 90s. Don't listen to it often enough.

Great music (for dancing or listening) and I love the sound of Basie records on Roulette.

Good, not great.  Bobby Watson, Ari Brown, James Williams, etc., but the whole is less than the sum of the parts (or maybe I'm just jaded after 50 years of listening).

Not my favorite item in the series musically, but definitely one of the prettiest covers

I enjoyed it a fair bit. Certainly more than other Humphreys records. There are a few tracks where it collapses musically.
