This just came in from amazon. It completes my collection of all 25 of the AudioWave XRCD24 Blue Note titles.

Now I can work on finishing off my Japanese RVG editions of Blue Note titles. Only need about 40. . . but it may take the rest of my life–a lot of these are expensive.

One of the few german jazz greats of the Cool Era from Frankfurt  emigrating to the US but had not the expected breakthrough in the jazzscene.

Re Jutta Hipp at the Hickory House. Vol. 1 and Vol. 2.  No breakthrough perhaps, but I find these to be very enjoyable albums. 👍

It´s one of my favourite latin albums from BN, together with KD´s "Afro Cuban" for example. I spinned it a lot about 20 years ago and even non jazz listeners liked it and on other occasions asked me to spin it again. Of course they didn´t know who was Charlie Rouse, but it appealed to them .
I love Charlie Rouse´s tenor sound and phrasing very very much. I think this was his only BN album under his own name.

When I want to hear that special sound "up close & personal", I usually pull this CD off the shelf:

Secondary, 2 of 16

That's a good one too. But "Renaissance" has Jim Hall and Jimmy Rowles. . . I love both of those guys and having Jim and Jimmy is a bit plus. . . .

Metheny / Mehldau (Nonesuch, 2006)

I've seen this album compared to the Bill Evans/Jim Hall collaborations, but I think it's much closer--in terms of its overall vibe, if not instrumentation--to ECM albums from the 1970s like Crystal Silence or Matchbook or Bright Size Life.
