I should give it a spin on this weekend too!

Now on the TT

I think I bought this once a very very long time ago.

Somehow I was not really happy with it. I love "sugar free" saxophon but Peppers sound of "Goodbye" is too piercing.

And somehow I have a problem with enjoying some of Pepper´s compositions. There is one "My Friend....(who), on it, but that theme is so terrible long, I think I even lost the trace when first listening to it. I think I remember there is some other tunes of him, that I like more. One is about a rapid train in Japan, one is a back beat tune titled something like "wish list" ....

Thanks for your analysis. There are 3 volumes  on vinyl from this session - "Thursday, Friday & Saturday Night". All recently issued on a CD box. As a member in another forum commented the order of tracks on the vinyls are not correct.  However I am an Art Pepper fan and dont have complaints about this one.

There arent much Items  to find him as leader.

Have him on a Paul Horn LP and like what I hear. He was also with Shearing.

This has become one of my favorite Osby releases. Some very Monkian writing.

Bass – Tarus Mateen
Drums – Eric Harland
Piano – Jason Moran
Producer – Greg Osby
Vibraphone – Stefon Harris

A contender for consideration as one of the most bizarre funk and jazz albums ever. Three masterful drummers are on these tracks so they have a real groove that is attention-grabbing. For me it works as a "party" disc. Party of one. ;)

Ella Fitzgerald and the Duke Ellington Orchestra "Ella at Duke's Place" Verve cd

Seems to me Strayhorn is all over this though he is seldom mentioned or credited on releases. Flipping soothing stuff that draws you in. And then swings you out.
