I would. I think it's a nice record. Everyone plays well.

Thanks, into the cupboard I will venture. I bought it when it was released but looking at the line up with hindsight it does look a bit of an odd collection of players.

The Oscar Peterson Trio - Night Train (Verve, 1962)

The Oscar Peterson Trio - A Jazz Portrait Of Frank Sinatra (Verve, 1959)

Soundwise the MPS recordings are the best IMO.

Most "jazzy" trio is however for me  ---> Peterson - Brown - Ellis and the earlier versions with Barney Kessell at JATP.

The late Bob Florence had a good cooperation with the german radio "Hessischer Rundfunk" in Frankfurt. Many years ago  I did record some  studio broadcast with Bob & some HR bigband recordings. I was in touch with Bob via email and  had tried to get him a gig at the WDR . But the "big heads" there were not interested at that time. Really a loss which cannot be repaired.

Herbie Hancock – The Piano (Columbia, 1979)

I have been exploring Hancock's acoustic releases from the 70s and 80s recently. Not a great deal there of the old Hancock, or the new Hancock. A strong sense of someone relearning from the basics, rather than returning from a place of growth.

The WDR was asleep, but the the SWR was awake and produced this wonderful CD.

Bob's Limited Edition produced many wonderful recordings, but this one IMHO, is the summit.

My best score of the year so far: bought from eBay for 19 dollars including shipping, all three records unplayed.
