But everybody's playing, Remember when JMT was putting out all those records by this version of the :"new blood"? Not Yong Lions, though! They sorely need a reissue in a 2022 friendly format. JSngry
The Winter and Winter CDs handled that for a while, but I don't know how easily obtained they are here in 2022.

Yeah, both JMT and Winter & Winter seem to be in limbo now. Hunting for used discs is the only option, as far as I can tell. jazzbo
The stubborn mule genius of Charles Mingus on display on a Blue Note cd that really does improve and expand on the United Artist LP. Flawed but powerful music. The emotion and drive is very apparent and one could only wish that more time to master the arrangements could have happened. Schuller's "Epitaph" revisits most of this . . .it's a fascinating set as well but it lacks Mingus. Charles Mingus "Complete Town Hall Concert" Japan UHQCD -- uses '94 Malcolm Addey mastering as far as I can tell. Peter Friedman
Steve's best recording, in my opinion. He plays here with strength, creativity and intensity. Based on his performance here, he rises to the top level of Hard Bop tenor players currently on the scene.
JSngry
Definitely an eclectic mish-mash of combinationality, but - some (a lot, really) Pharoah Sanders that has him way outside his usual boxes, and he sounds wonderful being there. And no matter what the setting, Will Calhoun can play.

JSngry
I don't know Pavement from Sidewalks of Cuba, but this is a totally wack album, in the very best kind of way. And even though I no familiarity with the source material, the fact that I can hear a solid structural underpinning tells me that there's something there to begin with, although how much is already there and how much gets added, I don't know. and don't really care about right now. I'm too busy ROTFLMFAO to worry about anal shit like that right now, I mean, for real.
