:tupFor those who like these musicians (and I realize that not everyone does), this is a superb recording.

Now: Realized I hadn't listened to any Valery in a while, so pulled this one off my shelf at random for a listen. Then I realized this is not the most appropriately titled CD to be listening to under the circumstances.

Looks like Ray Bryant is subbing for Ramsey.

He's doing an amazing job and Carmen is really "on."

Some great music on Bluebird and Decca, much featuring the amazing Tommy Ladnier.

Nice album, though.

Probably my favourites are Profile and A Star for You.

Sonny Rollins - Love at first sight (Milestone, 1981)

One of the Rollins records I like most from his later period (although it’s closer to his debut than to us now). There’s a swing-like dedication to the tunes. Plus it’s fun to hear the recovering fusionite backing group play so straight ahead.

Yes indeed. The McConnell crew is always top of the line.

The cover of my edition looks a bit different

Joe Farnsworth - Time to Swing (Smoke Sessions, 2020)

Farnsworth is playing here in ATL this weekend. I may go see him, depending on how my days shake out.  With Mark Whitfield on guitar.
