Stylish design, for sure. ... Don't think I've ever seen that before.  Thx for sharing.  :tup

This volume in the series is great--all either Commodore Records sides (I have all three of the Mosaic Records LP sets) or V-DISCS and every performance features Pee Wee Russell as a band member, and that's a great thing, plus lots of ERNIE CACERES!

Buddy Tate - The Ballad Artistry Of (Sackville, 1982)

Coincidentally, I have that LP queued up for listening later tonight.  It's one of the albums in my 80s jazz survey/blog -- but I didn't include any commentary when I posted it.  (Too tired. Running behind at work. Blah, blah, blah.)

So I need to listen again for inspiration before writing up my impressions.

Any insights that you'd like to offer?  I'd be happy to quote you.  :)

It was only my first listen, inspired by a mix of your blog and the recent discussion of mainstream swing. I need to listen to it more, because it's absolutely great. Impressive that it doesn't get samey at all; there's so much to listen for. Obviously, Ed Bickert is a treat, but the little subtle twists in the tenor playing are great too.
