Buddha the Magnificent Posted August 2, 2017 Report Posted August 2, 2017 René McLean Sextet - Watch Out (SteepleChase 1037, 1976).  René McLean - alto, soprano, tenor sax, flute; Danny Coleman - trumpet, flugelhorn; Nathan Page - guitar; Hubert Eaves - piano; Buster Williams - bass; Freddy Waits - drums.  Can't recall ever having heard Nathan Page before, but man he cooks;  Freddy and Buster really drive this thing. Absolutely. The music on this set is sublime! To me, Ellington is the greatest of them all.   1 hour ago, Buddha the Magnificent said: René McLean Sextet - Watch Out (SteepleChase 1037, 1976).  René McLean - alto, soprano, tenor sax, flute; Danny Coleman - trumpet, flugelhorn; Nathan Page - guitar; Hubert Eaves - piano; Buster Williams - bass; Freddy Waits - drums.  Can't recall ever having heard Nathan Page before, but man he cooks;  Freddy and Buster really drive this thing. Wow. That sounds great, Buddha. I'm going to have to check that out. You can hardly go wrong with a Buster Williams / Freddie Waits rhythm section! Edited August 2, 2017 by HutchFan Quote
