Most stuff is very long tunes with fusion heads and some straight ahead swinging, arranged by Bob James , but there are some small group performances like Dexter , Woody Shaw and Slide Hampton on "Fried Bananas" and "Moontrain" among others, and it´s some of the best Dexter with Woody and Slide that I ever heard. On "Bananas" Dexter plays some of the greatest solos I ever heard him play......

Around the same time, Dexter & Hampton recorded "Sophisticated Giant" with a similar band. NP: Edited November 23, 2021 by aparxa
jazzbo
Ella Fitzgerald and the Count Basie Orchestra "A Perfect Match" Pablo cd Can't go wrong with this pairing. Sound could be a bit better but no real complaints. Swing!
