Bet it's good, the previous one was very good Juno Records stock selected Astral Spirits releases, if you weren't aware already. I pre ordered this one and it's now on the way, although now showing as out of stock. They also stock selected 577 releases from the US, the only UK distributor I have found. Some good stuff on there too. Quote

jazzbo Posted November 2, 2021 Report Posted November 2, 2021 Just an amazing event. CARMEN McRAE & BETTY CARTER: The Carmen McRae - Betty Carter Duets, Live at the Great American Music Hall, San Francisco Quote
Rabshakeh Posted November 2, 2021 Report Posted November 2, 2021 The Jazz Composer's Orchestra - The Jazz Composer's Orchestra (JCOA, 1968) I'm not even a Larry Coryell fan normally, but I think that his solo on the second track is an under recognised avant guitar classic. Quote
JSngry Posted November 2, 2021 Author Report Posted November 2, 2021 That Donald Byrd/Yusef Lateef live thing recorded in Detroit. Everybody sound not yet fully formed, but Yusef make the best car horn sounds ever on "Parisian Thoroughfare", and sounds beautifully in general. Any discussion of great tenor sounds that does not include that of Yusef Lateef is not yet complete. Quote
Rabshakeh Posted November 2, 2021 Report Posted November 2, 2021 Rachel Musson and Olie Brice - Tapering Arms Point Into The Wind I haven't enjoyed a free improv record this much in a while. Thanks to @mjazzg for the recommendation. Quote

They go quickly. 9 hours ago, Rabshakeh said: Rachel Musson and Olie Brice - Tapering Arms Point Into The Wind I haven't enjoyed a free improv record this much in a while. jazzbo Posted November 3, 2021 Report Posted November 3, 2021 Listening to the first spin through a new amp I bought as a backup (DALAUDIO STUDIO 3886 R3). Sounding surprisingly good. The ZROCK2 makes it sound richer than it would otherwise. The second disc of the second show from '72. Again. It's a really good one. Quote
Dub Modal Posted November 3, 2021 Report Posted November 3, 2021 This one is Jonathan Blake's new one Homeward Bound with Immanuel Wilkins, Joel Ross, David Virelles, and Dezron Douglas. Except for the Shaw (from '05 as I was tracing Blake's work), all of these are current year releases and I've been digging them for the past few days. Quote
