Really dig all his three Piano Trio outings for Pablo, but this one may remain dearest to my heart .....

I love those records too!

And Bryant's solo piano Pablo ain't half-bad either. ;)

Streaming WDET Family Dance Party, spotlight on Otis Redding.

I'll take this any time, any day, any ANYTHING.

It's his birthday today, not that anybody should need an excuse.

First listen to this, it sounds good to me.  I don't follow Metheny religiously but dip into his catalogue occasionally and I'm invariably surprised by how much I enjoy the visits.

Mose Allison "Autumn Song" Prestige/OJC cd.

I short-change Allison's piano playing and shouldn't--his was a real talent and he fused a true jazz style with a swing of its own.

And then there's that uniquely phrased flowing voice.

Barney Wilen, "La Note Bleue" 2 cd set.

Disc 2, the live concert from '89 with Jackie Terrasson, Gilles Natural and Peter Gritz.

Sound is decent if not great. Playing is wonderful!

The first disc of this ten cd set. . . Anthony Braxton Quartet "(Standards) 2020"

I keep trying Braxton and this is a Braxton project I like, in large part because I like the work of Alexander Hawkins, pianist here.

Max Roach Quintet in Europe with Sam Rivers (Condition West)

Not a great deal of info on this one available out there. If anyone knows when it was recorded or who was in the group, let me know. Some of them get called out, but not all. It doesn't seem to be on Discogs even.

Now, something very different. Getting ready for the next Bootleg Series Volume coming out next week . . . .

Bob Dylan "Empire Burlesque" Sony Blu-Spec CD2.

The material from this album in the upcoming Volume is supposedly somewhat stripped of the production elements that annoy most of us. . . that should be interesting.

Good stuff. :tup

Picked that up myself recently, but haven’t listened to it yet. Your post has inspired me to move it up front in my listening queue.
