It's a different record than The Electrifying Eddie Harris on Atlantic from '68. The record that I posted was recorded in 1982 with William Henderson, Larry Gales, and Carl Burnett. It's pretty good stuff. It's out there on YouTube.

Rabshakeh
Lester Bowie - The 5th Power (Black Saint, 1978) Great record that feels underrated in comparison to very much equivalent contemporaneous records under the AEC's name. jazzbo
Continuing with my second time through this box set, first time with the Japanese edition. I'm going backwards this time. . . . Disc 3 of the UHQCD version from Japan of Lee Morgan "Complete Live at the Lighthouse." I hear several complain of compression on this new mix. . . I certainly hear dynamic contrast and it's certainly not overly loud in my system. Nor do I hear heavy bass as some have reported.

jazzbo
I love the way that bass clarinet sounds! As far as the bass goes it seemed the same to me on the US or Japanese sets. Right now, another Mingus material disc: Normand Guilebault Ensemble "Hommage a Mingus"

Yes, great album! I only discovered it via the 3-disc Lester Bowie Black Saint/Soul Note box, one of my favorites in that series.

Lester Bowie and Amina Claudine Meyers go together like peanut butter & chocolate. Two great sounds that sound even better together.
