duaneiac
Mr. Brown graciously autographed the booklet for this CD when I saw him at Yoshi's one night. In addition to his musical talents, he also deserved high marks for penmanship!

Next up: Duke's duet with bassist John Lamb at the beginning of "Ad Lib on Nippon" is so loose, airy, and abstract that it's like an improvised composition within the larger composition. It feels like these sorts of moments from Duke are sideways glances through partially opened doors, like he's anticipating what would be happening in the avant garde -- and jazz in general -- in the coming years. If you're on a solo sax thing at the moment let me recommend 'Dreamsing' by Rachel Musson. https://577records.bandcamp.com/album/dreamsing And no, I'm not her agent or family...
