jazzbo
Louis Armstrong and the All-Stars, "Satchmo 1950" Universal Japan UHQCD, 2021. Same music as the April 1950 material on the very first Armstrong Mosaic set. Sure sounds good on this disc. Teagarden, Bigard, Hines. . . this is one heavy-hitting group of All-Stars. Dub Modal
Ravi Coltrane and Sonny Fortune on the horns. The 32+ minute version of Doll of the Bride is fantastic.

Rabshakeh
K Curtis Lyle / Julius Hemphill - The Collected Poem For Blind Lemon Lemon Jefferson I put this on in the background whilst I was working. I really have no idea what I was thinking! 50 minutes of achievement, but no work done. Edited August 5, 2021 by Rabshakeh

jazzbo
Kenny Burrell "Asphalt Canyon Suite" Verve/Universal Japan SHM-CDÂ This album keeps climbing high in my esteem. And the engineering is just right, as is the mastering on this new cd from Japan. Â Now listening to this one again, the US cd this time. This fascinates me. This is truly spiritual music. The organ and organ pedal sounds she produces are wonderful. Alice Coltrane "Kirtan--Turiya Sings" Impulse cd.
Rabshakeh
John Law Quartet - Exploded On Impact (Slam, 1992) Just finished this one: Together Alone by Joseph Jarman and Anthony Braxton (Delmark, 1972) There are a lot of fun ideas on this one. It seems surprisingly ahead of itself for 1972 - closer in ideas terms at times to latter day AACM and adjacent artists likes Nicole Mitchell and Matana Roberts. Thanks to @mjazzg, who I think first mentioned it (probably about a year ago!). Edited August 5, 2021 by Rabshakeh

It was utterly fantastic.

I was standing at the counter as the artwork was trying to be released from the envelope and the woman kinda lost her grip on it and it almost went to the floor. I was there to catch it and they both thanked me. I don't know who the woman was, but the man was Braxton and the artwork was for that Together Alone album. It was my first time talking to him.
