Great band, but perhaps less than inspired material choices. I know other jazz musicians have covered "Ode To Billie Joe", but to me, without the storyline of the lyrics, it's just not all that interesting a song. "Somewhere My Love" can't help but sound like elevator music, no matter what and the title track (from the Sonny Bono songbook) just seems an odd choice -- surely there were better pop/rock hits to be covered in early 1968. Bobby Avey - Inhuman Wilderness (innerVoiceJazz) sorry, reflex action; a long time ago Armen stood me up on a gig I had booked; very important gig; and almost got me fired from it. Fine pianist, but when I called him to ask WTF he was completely indifferent. Quote

NP: Johnny Griffin - You Leave Me Breathless (Black Lion) One of JG's very best, imho. Five big stars. 7 hours ago, paul secor said: Such a magnificent recital. For me, this is desert-island music! duaneiac Posted July 15, 2017 Report Posted July 15, 2017 I wonder if his name was changed to "Freddy" on the album cover just because "y" was more aesthetically pleasing in that graphic layout than an "ie" would have been. It's a nice album which probably slips under the radar of a lot of folks. Quote
