Yeah, boy. Lots of sampling here: Steve Miller, György Ligeti (with a nod to Stockhausen's Hymnen: Region IV breathing segment - or is it "Dave Bowman" from 2001: A Space Odyssey"), The Dubliners, Pink Floyd, ... I think it may work better as a suite of tunes that segue rather than individual ones - even with the Dixieland tracks folded in(!) Maybe Zweistein could be a close comparison or even Marks & Lebzelter, but there was more of this kind of thing during those times than people want to admit to.

I'm really enjoying revisiting the David Sanchez Columbia releases. This is another one with great work by Miguel Zenon included, and I love the way that Sanchez includes Latin feel to the pieces without overwhelming a jazz swing. This one is also well-recorded.

This one grows on me. I have the new cd reissue from Real Gone Music as well, which may sound a bit better.
