I listened to it because of Surman. There's an album with Surman and Albert Mangelsdorff which isn't that similar but worth hearing https://www.discogs.com/Albert-Mangelsdorff-John-Surman-Room-1220/release/4523241 I like this one too https://www.discogs.com/Eddy-Louiss-Bohemia-After-Dark/release/1051257 Others here will undoubtedly know a lot more about him than me

I included it in my 70s jazz favorites survey. Eddy Louiss' most famous work might be his sideman appearance on Stan Getz's Dynasty. (This record is TREMENDOUS, and it's also in my 70s survey.) Other Louiss records that I know & would recommend: - Trio Humair, Louiss, Ponty - Vol. 1 (Dreyfus) - Trio Humair, Louiss, Ponty - Vol. 2 (Dreyfus) - Eddy Louiss Trio with Kenny Clarke & René Thomas (Dreyfus) - Ivan Jullien, Eddy Louiss - Porgy and Bess (Riviera/Gitanes) - Stan Getz - Communication '72 (Verve/Gitanes)

I actually hadn't picked it up until recently. I don't recall quite why I noted the name but it is pretty likely that I did so because I saw it on your 70s blog, so a big thank you for that too. His “Apocalypse de Jean” is my second favorite piece of music in my whole collection - has been for 50 years.
jazzbo
Sal Salvador "Quintet / Kenton Presents the Sal Salvador Quartet" Blue Note Connoisseur cd. Two 10" records--one Blue Note, one Capitol, reissued on one cd. Nice stuff that I haven't played in way too long.
