A collection of tracks from her Blue Note years. . .all excellent, nicely sequenced, a real treat to listen to as the snow falls.

I have that NY Calling and love it too!

I don't have the Wheeler but I've listened and it's fantastic :tup

I've been rolling tubes in my system sparked by a comment by the builder of my preamps and amps. . . .

And man, I've come up with a very different set of tube complements and am really enjoying the sound! It's amazing the different sonic worlds these components can create if you embrace exploration. Warm, sunny music playing as I look out from my second story window at dozens of trees dusted with snow, a cold, serene tranquil world outside the window. I'm thankful for "46" and happy to be nice and warm. And thinking of my Dad, trying to send him mental waves of healing--I owe that man so much and admire him even more.

Now playing

Lionel Hampton - Blues In The News (03-02-42) | Play on Anghami

Mrs. Duckworth had this one on today, and I was surprised that I enjoy it even more than I remembered.

Hoping that might include the great "Central Avenue Breakdown", but see that's from 1949. (Not surprised, listening now to the boppish changes.)

Oh yeah. And Hotep Galeta is nice on the piano.

Speaking of Galeta and McLean, I caught Steve Davis (super nice guy!) in town and chatted with him.  I mentioned Galeta and he hopped behind the piano and played some of Galeta's music.
